About
Midori Furze (Sydney, Australia)
Midori was born in Japan. She has loved drawing and painting ever since she was a little girl. Her first oil painting was a still life when she was 8 years old. She came to Australia in 1989 and currently lives in Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
Since 2002 Midori has been actively participating in various art exhibitions in Australia. She has won many awards, including two first prizes in the Figurative and Contemporary sections at Northern Suburbs A&H Society Art exhibition in 2006.
She loves music and she often translates her love of music into art. On her canvases she paints her dreams and concepts of love and music.
Midori likes acrylic and oil painting. Recently she started using old make up products for drawing. She ran a successful workshop, “Make up Your Mind”, at Manly Library in May 2009. It was hosted by creativemums.com.au. More than 70 mothers and daughters attended the workshop and enjoyed drawing with old make up products.
In September 2009, a “Make up Your Mind” art exhibition has taken part in the Manly Arts Festival 09.
She has also organised a “Womanly” T-shirt exhibition at Manly Beach with Angela van Boxtel. The exhibitions took part in the Manly Arts Festival 09 and a spectacular display of more than 100 t-shirts on a long cloth line has appeared on the beach.
She writes and shares her knowledge on art magazines. Her articles were on “Fine Art & Decorative Painting” Vol.16 No.10, Vol.16 No.11, Vol.17 No.2 and Vol.17 No.3 in 2009.
